EN 1090-2

Execution class, stated honestly

The assigned unit is certified to EN 1090-2 execution class EXC2. EXC2 is the class specified for standard industrial halls and buildings under normal consequence class.

If your designer specifies EXC3, for bridges, fatigue-loaded members or structures above normal consequence class, the package routes to the EXC3 unit in our network instead. We tell you which unit carries your structure before you order, not after.

Why this page says EXC2 and our welded steel constructions page says EXC3: they are two different units doing two different classes of work. Machine frames, heavy weldments and the composite road bridge shown on that page are fabricated by a unit certified to EXC3. Standard halls and industrial buildings are fabricated and erected by a unit certified to EXC2. Same network, two certificates, each stated for the work it actually covers.

We do not claim a class we are not certified for. The execution class is set by your designer in the structural specification, not by us.

Erected, not just fabricated

Most steel suppliers hand you a structure on a truck. The assigned unit fabricates, delivers and erects on site. Completed building structures include a school, a medical centre, a hotel and an industrial facility: buildings that were finished, not just shipped.

What that means for you: one contract, one site team, one party that answers when the roof, the skylights and the stairs have to meet on the same day. Project references are shared at qualification together with the unit's certificate.

What this is not

Who fabricates and erects steel hall structures to EN 1090 EXC2 in Europe?
Stratosteel delivers steel hall and industrial building structures under one contract: fabrication, delivery and erection on site. The assigned fabricating unit in our Central European network holds EN 1090 with execution class EXC2, the class specified for standard industrial halls and buildings. What is the difference between EXC2 and EXC3 for a steel building?
The execution class is set by your designer in the structural specification, based on consequence class, service category and production category. EXC2 covers standard industrial halls and buildings under normal consequence class, and that is what the assigned building unit is certified for. EXC3 applies to bridges, fatigue-loaded members and structures above normal consequence class; when a designer specifies EXC3 on a building, the package routes to the EXC3 unit in our network instead, and we tell you which unit carries the structure before you order.
Do you erect the structure on site or only deliver it?
Both are in the contract. The assigned unit fabricates, delivers and erects the structure on site. One contract and one responsible party from drawing to erected structure, not a structure handed over on a truck.
What kind of buildings has the assigned unit completed?
Completed building structures include a school, a medical centre, a hotel and an industrial facility, all delivered and erected, not just shipped. Project references are shared at qualification together with the unit's certificate.
What do you need from us to quote a hall or building structure?
The structural drawings or design model, the structural specification with the execution class, the site location and the target date for erection. An engineer replies within 48 hours with feasibility, the proposed route and open questions. The firm quote follows in 3 to 7 working days once the fabricating unit is confirmed.
Can a building structure and machine parts sit on one contract with Stratosteel?
Yes. Building structures are fabricated and erected by the assigned building unit; machine frames, heavy weldments, castings and machined parts run through other units in the same network. Stratosteel is the contracting party for all of it, so a plant extension and the equipment inside it can be bought from one address. Each package is qualified with its own unit before we quote a date.
