How we work

One PO. One owner. No gaps.

A heavy part crosses a foundry, a forge, a weld shop, machining, heat treatment and NDT. Buy those separately and every interface is your risk. Buy from us and the interfaces are ours. That is the whole model.

The one-contract model

What single responsibility means in practice.

One PO

You place one purchase order with Stratosteel s.r.o. for the finished, certified part. No sub-orders, no coordinating five vendors, no integration risk on your desk.

One quality owner

Stratosteel owns quality contractually, whichever plant or partner runs an operation. One inspection and test plan, one documentation package, one named quality owner per order.

One delivery owner

One confirmed date, one delivery, one name to call if anything moves. We tell you about a problem before you find it, with a proposed solution attached.

How the partner side is secured: the producing plant confirms capacity and date before we confirm them to you. Where the network allows it, critical processes carry a second qualified route. If a plant fails mid-order, Stratosteel moves the work and carries the transfer. Invoicing in EUR, 30 to 60 days net, per the agreed terms.

First technical answer

An engineer replies, usually within 1 business day, always within 48 hours: feasibility, the proposed process route, open questions. No automated acknowledgements pretending to be progress.

DAY 3 TO 7

Firm quote

Price, lead time, documentation scope, process route. Issued once the production unit is confirmed, so the number holds. Not a placeholder.

THEN

Pilot order

Start with one part number. One PO covers manufacture, verification, documentation and delivery. Serial agreements come after we have earned them with delivered parts.

Five steps, five potential suppliers, five sets of interfaces. Under one PO the interfaces are ours: the route is planned before the first cut, capacity is confirmed with each producing plant, and the documentation file is assembled as the part moves, not chased afterwards. NDT scope per specification: UT, MT, PT, RT (RT via an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory).

What we need from you

Four things. Then we move.

  • The drawing: PDF, STEP, DWG, DXF or IGES
  • Material, or the freedom to propose one
  • Quantity, one piece is a valid quantity
  • Target date, honest, not padded

No portal registration, no 40-page questionnaire before the first answer. The questionnaire can run in parallel with the pilot part if your process needs it.

Where we say no

Boundaries, stated upfront.

  • Outside our envelope: we say so in the first reply and, where we can, point you somewhere real
  • No production without an agreed documentation scope
  • No blind quotes without a drawing
  • Construction scope on site stays with a contractor of record. We cover the steel scope

On partner plants: the material certificate always names the producing works, so anonymity is not the promise. Management is. We manage the plants. You audit through us: audits at the producing works are arranged through us, not around us, and the full plant list with certificates is on the table at qualification.

Commercial basics

The terms, before you ask.

Response SLAAll times on this site are Central European Time. The 48 hours start when your drawing arrives at rfq@stratosteel.com or through the form, and stop when a named engineer replies with content, not with an acknowledgement. The 3 to 7 days for a firm quote are working days, excluding Slovak public holidays. If the 48 hours pass without an answer, escalate: Martin Nemčok, COO, martin.nemcok@stratosteel.com, +421 907 648 193. You get an answer or the reason, same day.

Delivery time, other familiesCastings, forgings, machined parts and 5-axis work are dated per drawing, once the producing unit confirms. We publish a range for a family only after enough delivered orders back it, and weldments are the only family where that is true today. Every quote carries a firm date; nothing is quoted "on request".

NDA-first option

Confidential by default.

If your drawings cannot move without protection, we sign first. Your NDA template or ours. Our own customer names are handled the same way: every active OEM qualification track and the serial defence program are under NDA, and they stay there.

Buyer FAQ

The questions procurement actually asks.

Can you handle our tonnage and size?
Envelopes: steel castings to 50 t single piece via long-term EU foundry partners, ductile and grey iron on project basis. Open-die forgings on project basis via qualified EU partner presses, ESR special metallurgy available, machining integrated to 50 t. Weldments to 10 t at the Slovak core per EN ISO 3834-2, to 64 t x 45 m via certified partner under EN 1090-2 EXC3 (certificate with the assigned fabricating unit). Heavy machining to 50 t static and 30 t rotary at 0.03 to 0.05 mm form-position. If your part is outside these envelopes, we say so in the first reply.
Who owns quality when partner plants are involved?
Stratosteel does, contractually. One PO, one quality owner, regardless of which plant or partner makes the part. Inspection and test plan agreed before production. Partner capacity is confirmed with the producing plant before we confirm a date to you.
What documentation comes with the parts?
EN 10204 3.1 material certificate as standard, 3.2 with third-party witness on request. Dimensional report with CMM trace on critical parts. NDT reports (UT, MT, PT, RT; RT via an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory) per specification. Heat treatment records. melt-and-pour origin documented for tenders, EU-only routes on request.
Do you work under our NDA?
Yes. NDA-first is a normal path: your template or ours, signed before drawings move. Customer names on our side are disclosed the same way, under NDA only.
How fast is a first answer and a firm quote?
Reply usually within 1 business day, always within 48 hours: feasibility, proposed route, open questions. Firm quote in 3 to 7 working days once the production unit is confirmed. Complex multi-process parts can take longer, and we tell you the date in the first reply.
What is your capacity commitment?
Pilot orders are scheduled within current capacity. Serial ramp is agreed per program before we commit, with dates in the contract, not in the brochure.
What is the cheapest way to test Stratosteel?
A pilot RFQ: 1 to 3 drawings, no commitment, firm number in 3 to 7 working days. Then a pilot order on one part number. You judge the quote first, the parts second, and only then talk frameworks.
Which sectors do you supply, and can you cover oil and gas, mining and energy?
Mining, energy (wind, hydro, power generation), oil and gas, marine, rail, defence, heavy equipment and forestry. The machines are the same across sectors; the proof differs per sector. Active: a 6-year serial weldment and machining program for a forestry equipment OEM, a serial defence program at 10 000+ units per year, and network castings running in mining and off-highway machines today. Steel castings to 50 t, weldments to 64 t x 45 m, heavy machining to 50 t, an EU-first network under one contract with EN 10204 3.1 documentation and melt-and-pour origin in every quote.
